Matthew 20:26-28

There is no greatness in the one who wants to be treated like the superior without doing anything. Who is constantly seeking being first, must have thought before on being the first one to serve. The one with  a willing heart and diligent hands is the one with a great heart. It is difficult to find people with those characteristics, but  when there is a call for pleasing benefits everyone lifts up their hands. Those who lift up their hands, will end working under the humble servants. Our perspective must be changed, we can never be the greatest, that place is already taken and it is of our Lord. Hearts tend to look for the spotlight, but don’t agree with the work that must be done for it. In our calling the spotlight and glory is for God, we are only His servants.  Being sincere I have liked the benefits that being first brings. It makes me feel proud, happy, and it gives me recognition. I have strived this in school, races and even between friends. We would sometimes compete on w

Luke 17:7-10

This scene reflects the correct attitude of a servant. First says when the servant finishes comes back from his labor. Second, the servant doesn’t have to have an expectation to eat or drink anything; he looks first for his master. And third, the servant must not hear thank you but another command.  It is part from our responsibility to come back, not only do our work and appear again after several days. Leave after having the job done is easier. The authority above us must be honored with our presence and respected by accomplishing our command. I have found several times serving and doing things other people have asked me to do; but as I finish them I think that there is no need to go back to them. Maybe I had that mindset because my heart thought of it as a chore or task not as a blessing to help someone. I want a heart that is so willing to serve and all that it wants is to please people, that it is going to make me be expectant to finish and go back to ask if there is somethin

John 12:26

For being a servant of God, we must follow Him. To follow must require to be near and around Jesus. If we are far, we would hardly know what He wants or what He is saying and these would make us useless. Someone who is near must also have an attitude to be available. If someone is doing something else while He commands won’t allow them to be ready. Ears opened and a heart opened to learn will make us very useful servants.  I wanted to follow God but don’t to serve Him, I was lazy and without a passion for Him. I didn’t understood completely what the His cross meant for my life. I was trying to follow Him without taking my cross and denying myself. Looking after my purpose in my own way made me have several failures and feel without meaning. Until I recognized that I have to live a completely surrendered life, and that Jesus is the way; I found purpose. Through all my errors, I thought that the plans that God had for me were canceled or stopped. My sin and fears made me feel useles

1 Corinthians 12:14-15

God has given us, through His spirit, gifts and different ministries to each one of us. I must be humble to accept what God has given to me and use it to bless other people and to do the work He has called me to. But before, I need to know what and where God has called me, so I won’t be wondering around looking for my purpose. Even if I don’t feel like my purpose is “big” or “meaningful”, it helps to work everything out and together. I know that my meaning is found in Him. It has always been difficult for me to work in groups, and even more when it is a group I didn’t wanted. One of the reasons is that they can’t do the job like I would like it to be. Another one is that sometimes I would need to work their part or have to help them several times. These reminds me that we are not God, therefore we don’t decide the part of body for every person; that is in God’s hand. It can happen that we won’t be content with some people, but we need to trust that God has placed them there with a

Romans 15:1

All who are followers of Jesus Christ are part of His body. God has given us certain gifts and a specific calling to us. We must work together and make sure that each member is find and doing well. When a part is weak, other parts should help and support it. Just as our body functions with its organs.  Being selfish has being difficult when the time to help someone else comes. I would only care for my own condition. But God worked this in me, last year. I went to a extreme personal character challenge, we were sent to the wilderness and be walking, camping and learning from God. Every person was assigned to a team, a team that needed to be our family. I learned that I can’t leave my family behind, we leave together and we arrive together. There were times were some of the teammates didn’t have any strength left and with help of others we would carry their backpack. Also some would need to stop and rest, so we would wait for them too. I got tired too, and all I did was is to ask fo

Galatians 5:13

I grew up as a christian kid, good and bad was in my knowledge and mind. True commitment to Jesus didn’t exist in me. I believed I wasn’t good enough to be a christian, always expected to be “perfect” to preach or share the gospel with others, but this is impossible. Living a life with masks and trying to be a “christian” is tiring. It was until a surrendered completely to Jesus that I believed that I was born a new person. Never before knew that I don’t need sin anymore, Jesus is enough. Thinking about this helps me whenever temptation comes to my way. Also reading His word and being in communion has helped me to build a stronger relationship in which I don’t want to hurt Him sinning. His love for me has made me to love Him back, and a way I have found to show this love is by being obedient and share this love with others.  His sacrifice was so brutal that what at least what I can do is to live a life for Him and as I continue also becomes a life for others. Before I only cared for

1 Corinthians 9:22

What another demonstration of love to our neighbors or to people than to be emphatic with their lives and share with them the gospel? Knowing that God called me to be a disciple and to share the gospel to people has opened my eyes. His calling qualifies me, even though I feel like I am not ready or don’t have enough love for others, I have stopped trying and just letting Him work in me and through me.  Being honest, it is hard for me to be open to all people I face or get to know, but it is even harder when it is people that I know or are my friends. I believe this happens because of my lack of faith in Him. Now that I am in a real relationship with Him, my love and passion has been growing. My heart opens more and more every new time we get to do outreaches or share the gospel.  I can’t love people with my heart, but I can love them with His love. In my strength is hard to lay down and try to talk to everyone, but His faithfulness and passion for them is what makes me move. N

Ephesians 5:21

To fear God is to acknowledge Him in everything we think, do or say. When we know who He is, we take care of our conduct because we want to be pleasant to Him. Sometimes we forget His fear when it comes to relationships. When we only focus in ourselves and loving Him, we will get tired. There is nothing we can do to love Him as He loves us. Trying to do so will consume ourselves in desperation and deception. We can’t love others with emptiness. Our hearts need to know that His love is sufficient. God loves us first, and his love won’t fade away if we don’t love Him back. He can’t deny himself, for he is love. Receiving His love is the only way to be able to love Him and love others.  When we love with His love, we stop seeing: at ourselves, at excuses, problems or situations. Seeing people as God sees them: their own creation; helps to know that we are treating a child of Him too. If there is King and we see his children, I believe we would be respectful and find a way to treat Hi

Hebrews 13:7

In this life we can have three fathers. First we can’t be born without an earthly father, we can only come to life through a mom and dad. When we meet Jesus in our lives, God becomes our father and we His children. In this walk with the Lord it is important to have a leader. This leader is our spiritual father. As a father: he looks after us, taking care of whatever we are doing should be in God’s will and path. They have also walked more with Jesus, therefore they have more experience. This is important when we have questions or doubts because we can come up to them and have an answer. It is much better to follow someone who has already been through similar situations so that we can learn from them and don’t fall too. But if we fall God lifts us up and the leader is going to be there to support. The leaders won’t have a problem to share and pour out their knowledge to us, as they want us to grow with God as much as we can. So as when the time to call attention or encourage to change

Ephisians 6:1 and Colossians 3:20

We are earthly and heavenly creatures. In earth we must come from a man and a woman, whom are called our parents. In earth we are the offspring of that man and woman; therefore, we might have: their eyes, smile, character, attitudes, or any other characteristic. That creates a special relationship between us and them. There is love in caring from their part, they would do whatever is possible so that we can be find and happy. Sometimes they wouldn’t eat so that we could have food in our stomach, they wouldn’t sleep so that we could have rest, or they wouldn’t buy something for them so that we could have clothes and everything we need. But we, as their children, take their sacrifices for granted. We forget quickly or didn’t even noticed how far they have gone through us, be selfish and treat them badly. Also as we grow up and don’t have the correct moral, we tend to be rebellious towards them. What they say has no relevance, we think that our opinion and idea is the correct one. When w

Romans 6:16

Flesh and spirit is in us, coming to Christ our sinful nature died with Him on the cross. With the spirit we can kill our flesh desires that could come up to our lives. To obey God is to accept His grace and be free to say no to our humanly acts. His blood justifies us, God doesn’t see our sin anymore but He sees Jesus in us as He is our advocate.  He has a plan to our lives, for him there is no such thing as time.. He is eternal. He created us, nobody knows us better than God. How shall we be scared of our lives or our future? Once I was lost in fear and anxiety.. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to make it. Failing wasn’t accepted for my life, but everything seemed to be going wrong, as if I wasn’t capable of doing things right.  I found out that I was keeping Jesus away from my plans. Also that I created a God for my own sake, a God that works for my dreams; when truly.. is the other way around. He created me for His own purposes and plans. I didn’t want to surrend

2 Corinthians 10:5

For this sense we can divide humanity in two: those who follow God and those who not. Since God is a gentleman and gives us free will to decide what we want to do or think, those who not follow Him, would have lives away from Him for different circumstances. Everyone can have similar paths but still have a unique past. Past that is a group of several situations, which together can drag them away from God building certain barriers. Their lives is a result of knowledge gathered through every moment. This knowledge is most of the times used from people as excuses to not come to Jesus. When someone hasn’t received love in his life and suddenly hears from Jesus love, it can sound intimidating at first. As it intimidates, fear starts to exist for risking and believing. But His love is a love that never gives up on us, it doesn’t matter how hard we try He finds a way to conquer us. He has the power to vanish our past and start a healing process. When we come to Jesus, He gives us one command

Hebrews 5:8

For 6 years I lived a life of back and forth with God. My actions didn’t show commitment, I would only seek Him when I wanted or needed something; just appear sunday morning at church by custom. My life was full of disobedience because I feared to follow Jesus. Always preferred comfort zones, where I wouldn’t get too close to Jesus because I knew He would call me to do things I didn’t want to or leave certain friendships. For a moment I thought that my life was mine, I didn’t want to follow any rules nor to be accountable. His sacrifice for my sin suddenly lost all my respect and value. There where days that the HS guided me to the right path but I didn’t care and did what I wanted. His voice was indifferent to my ears, I wasn’t caring any more… But, I got tired. Tired of a selfish and a life without purpose. His love never left, and as the potter He put me on the wheel and centered me. My errors and mistakes made me to value and see how much love He has for me. My rebellion neith

Psalms 17:15

After coming to Jesus our past stays with our sin and transgression. His grace makes us just and allows us to reach our Father. To stay just we must live in the spirit and die daily to our flesh. Why do I not want to sin anymore? I just see what Jesus did for me on the cross, remember certain moments of my life were Jesus never left, see His faithful hand saving me and guiding me; this encourages me to live a life for Him. He loved me first, now I can love Him. It is for loving Him and others that I want to stay in justice, to be able to make Jesus smile and be proud. Get to know Him much much more, that I could hear His heartbeat, know His mind and hear His voice. I fail every day, sometimes I would only focus in what I am doing wrong and tend to forget His love and mercy, self pity drains and turns the day into a bad day. Other times I would feel anxious for things to come and forget about this very moment. I also feel fear about my efforts and actions. All this together is nothing

Philippians 4:11

Someway.. somehow Paul learned to live every situation or circumstance in His life satisfied. I believe it starts by recognizing that we do no need anything. All we need is God, God is our Father and we are His sons. How shall He won’t look after us?  God can’t be second place or be in another one that is not first place in our lives and hearts. If He is not the first one, we are telling Him that there is something much more important or better, we depend more in that other things than in God. We won’t see Him act fully while that condition continues, He is were we completely depend on Him. When we are thankful today for what we have and live; when we surrender our dreams, desires, families; when we give Him from our (sustento). Then He is the answers to our needs and gives us joy and peace. I still have a hard time finding myself satisfied every time; sometimes I would be sitting on the table and be mad because I don’t like the meal that was served while there are millions of

Hebrews 13:5

There would always be a chance that we can incline our hearts into money… but, why?? If we think of it money is just a means of exchange for goods and services. Money can have value for us only if we value the things we can use it for. Wishing for a new house, car, more clothes, etc, can place in our hearts a desire to gather money and be able to purchase them. To want these things is not wrong, what it is wrong is to place them first and to have them as a goal and north; they can become first place in our lives and hearts. The first place is only for God. Therefore, when He is all, He will become our father, helper, provider,   just everything. What we have in our hearts now, needs to be in His hands because we can trust that He will always be with us.  For a period of time in my life I believed that my purpose was making business and money to have a “good life”. As I grew up, money wasn’t what I wanted any more, I just wished for a nice family and happiness. I knew that in whate

Luke 3:14

Just like the soldiers, several times I have asked myself if what I am doing is right, if I am pouring all the effort I can. It is easy in school because they give grades and report cards, in some way they help to draw conclusions. Every day in real life’s scenario is a test; were attitude, thoughts, and decisions will build the outcome.  Sometimes we are drawn by earthly things or ambitions, we keep on asking: “what is the new trend?”, “what is the best car in the market now?”, etc. But how many times do we ask questions to improve ourselves? Ask where our heart is or in what are we pouring our hearts to. What John answers to the soldiers relates perfect with what Jesus told us to do: love my neighbor as I do for myself. We often look ways to earn more by hurting people, because it is easier to take from other person than to work hard for it.  Soldiers are used to receive commands and rules, they are good at obeying and following. We shall imitate them and follow Jesus’ c

1 Timothy 6:6-8

Why do we always try to obtain and gain more and more things?? It seems that in our lives we live for material things. Since we are little, grown ups draw a mindset in us of studying because someday we will need to be “successful”. Success that for many people is: nice cars, houses, have family, etc. And some believe it and start projecting themselves to build the means to reach this goals. One of this means people use is the gospel; although it is wrong gospel. They believe that Jesus came to this earth to: improve our condition, to makes us rich, to heal us, etc. The true gospel is: Jesus came to the earth to die in a cross to forgive our sin and be our way to God. It is true that God blesses us and wants us to have an abundantly life, but this is not His goal. Those things come after we seek His kingdom first. When we seek His kingdom first, we surrender everything denying ourselves to follow Him. We follow Him because we know that there is nothing we could ever do to pay his grace

Hebrews 6:12

Being lazy is a common denominator between people. Comfort zones is equal to: no risk, no fear, no faith, etc. We can always find laziness in comfort zones; there is no strive for something more, no hunger for something new, and no desire to accomplish new dreams. Lazy minds draw an imaginary line that limits actions. Actions that would take someone out of their satisfaction. It seems that most of the people are swept into monotonous lives, were they have stopped living and just continue each day surviving.  We have one call in God’s kingdom, and that is: to make disciples. We need to be careful to not fall into comfort zones. We don’t stop when we have reached certain number of challenges, or when we obtain something we wanted. That imaginary line should be erased of our minds. In His kingdom there is always work to do, but we need to be in Him to know what is next.  As we fix our eyes in what is eternal and not what is from this earth, we are going to start living with no fe

Revelation 1:9

We can decide what race we are going to run, whether is God’s call or race in our own will. Although in both of them we are not going to be alone. There are friends and people in both sides, that will have same beliefs, dreams and desires, some with similar paths as ours. But we were called by God to run the good race of our calling. Calling that is part of his Body, each person complements each one another with an specific task. We have one thing in common, and that is Jesus; only one Lord. Whom all of us together serve. We should be there to support us when someone is weak, because if one suffers all the body suffers.  During several years of my life, it was hard for me to find good friends. The people I knew had different beliefs and likes. In church I never felt comfortable with the people I met, or friendships just couldn’t happen. A feeling of being unwelcome in our groups made me to start to separate of them, but I also didn’t want to have friends who were partying. It was

Ephisians 5:15-17

Mostly teenagers and young adults live with no fear; we believe that we are invencible, that nothing is impossible for us. We don’t take any precaution of what could happen or the implied consequences of our actions. The flesh in us can be so free in our lives and we haven’t even noticed yet. Even when we suffer the consequences, we tend to “learn” the lesson for a short period of time and then continue living the same way like fools. Paul alerts us from living this way. If we don’t gather heavenly wisdom and start living with it, our days will be bad. Being wise will help us find and do what is correct and best in each day. Life is a gathering of moments, good life is taking wisely the most of these moments. For this we need to be humble and learn God’s wisdom. A repeated act for a period of time will become a habit. Let thinking reasonably every action with wisdom to be a habit, and our days will be good. Walking wisely is good, but walking wisely in His ways is greater. We know tha

2 corint 1:12

In our daily lives, we have something in us called consciousness. This consciousness will be present in everything that we do, say or think. If we think more about  it, without consciousness we are not in this world; it is the bridge between our soul and external life. Its status will depend of all the activities we have done. A good conduct will give us peace, otherwise anxiety and fear will be found in our hearts.  When we come to Christ, we receive a new life. Life that needs to be surrendered to Him only, denying to ourselves. Temptation will come but our sinful nature has changed to a spiritual nature.  There will always be eyes fixed in our public life. We are a screen of Jesus for all the people out there, that is why our actions and path must be in Him. The probability of being a rock of stumble for someone else exists, therefore we should walk with patience and love to others.  We ourselves can’t be holy, but it is through God that we can. He calls us to be holy (

Colossians 1:11

As we accept His salvation, we don’t live any more in our flesh but in His Spirit. Still we are in these mortal body; body that gets tired, sick and hurt. Although the past sinful nature died in the cross with Jesus. Our sinning body lost his power, now we are free of sin and free to live for Him. His spirit will help us keep killing our flesh. Flesh’ll be always present in our lives, but in Him we can have victory.  We need the spirit always, because in any moment our days can change. When we walk through our lives,  the only way we can get more of the spirit, is pouring what He has given to us in others. Then when we are empty we can ask Him to fill us more. Doesn’t matter our situation or in which moment, He wants to fill us now, because He knows that we need him to keep going.  If the spirit in me diminishes, my flesh increases. It is an inverse relation, because the spirit can’t be where there is sin: when His spirit is strong my flesh is weak; when my flesh is strong the

Luke 21:19

While I was thinking of standing still, a soldier was illustrated in my mind. When a superior calls a soldier to stand still, the soldier must leave whatever he is doing and come up firming his body. Then he has an attitude of listener, because the superior surely has something important to say. After the superior finishes his command, the soldier must wait until he has permitted to “relax”.  We can take certain points out of this illustration. The soldier has attitudes of obedience, service, and discipline. Jesus is our chief in command and we are his soldiers, we have to fight for souls. As any soldier, we need to look sharp and in shape. Otherwise we are going to die. We shall seek Jesus daily to know him more and delight ourselves in Him; so that our faces can reflect Him. Our ears need to be sensible to His voice, in a battle of so much noise and action, confusing a command from a different source will have terrible consequences. Our most important weapon is His word, sharper

Luke 8:11-15

Four different types of hearts can be distinguished in Jesus’s lesson. The one who felt along the path, others felt over stones, others had to grew next to thorns and the last ones, the ones who felt in good soil. These types can relate to our hearts, because are our hearts the ones who receive the word of God.  Sometimes hearts can be outside of Jesus, hold in the wrong place. Those are the hearts that still aren’t walking with and in Jesus. Sin is still in their lives, and the devil will do whatever he cans to drag them close to their flesh.  Our hearts could also be joyful to receive the word of God, but Jesus is not still our anchor. People who only seek the blessings, but do not seek the God of the blessings. God only exists for them when they have needs. Someone can’t grow in God with a relationship like this. With trials and problems, their weak faith will vanish them away because they aren’t dwelled in Jesus. Roots help trees and plants to hold them up. They also gathe
